AN UPDATE FOR RESIDENTS – NOVEL CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19)

As you are aware, John Park, Ian Francis and I, Joseph Hansell, were appointed Receivers and Managers of the Settlers Group on 28 August 2019.

I refer to my previous communications in relation to the coronavirus (COVID-19). I am writing with another update on our continued efforts to help protect your health, and the health of all residents and staff.

Persons aged 70 and over urged to stay home

The Government has strongly recommended that all persons over 70 years of age stay at home and self-isolate for their own protection. This is in order to minimise the number of direct interactions with other people.

This recommendation further extends to those over 60 years of age who have existing heath conditions or comorbidities, and indigenous Australians over the age of 50 who have existing heath conditions and comorbidities.

Maximum 2 people in outside gatherings

Additionally, the Australian Government also announced further strengthening of guidelines surrounding outside gatherings. The new guidelines state a maximum of two persons in any outdoor activity. For the safety of our residents, we strongly recommend all residents adhere to the new guidelines. Whilst, residents are able to leave their homes for exercise, for the health and safety of yourself and other residents, we request you only do so with persons that reside with you, and you comply with social distancing rules.

For more information

As previously mentioned, we are continuing to closely follow advice from the Department of Health, which is continually updated on its website at www.health.gov.au. For more information about COVID-19 you can call the Coronavirus Health Information Line on 1800 020 080 or visit www.health.gov.au.

These are not easy times, and the change and requests outlined in this letter are made only to try and do the best we can to protect our residents.  Your support and assistance for the necessary measures outlined in this letter may help save lives.

I will keep you updated when there is updated advice from the Department of Health.

Kind regards,

Joseph Hansell
